Carol Brannan, Certified Massage Therapist
What has Myofascial Release done for me?
What it can do for YOU!
My life has profoundly changed since discovering Myofascial Release as a patient with Judi two years ago. I had been suffering for thirty years with chronic, unrelenting pain from a back injury in gymnastics during college. There were times when I felt like a prisoner in my body, held captive by the pain, unable to move or do all the things that I wanted or needed to do. Though all of the different therapies I tried were unsuccessful, I remained absolutely convinced that I would find the “answer”. And here I am… not only pain-free, but also working as a Myofascial Release therapist. Now I am privileged to travel along this healing path with many others, enlightened and sensitized by my own personal struggle.
I am a certified Teacher and Health Educator with a strong medical background and more than twenty-five years of experience as a personal trainer and competitive athlete. My life has been enriched and my outlook has been expanded by all of my professional endeavors. And yet, I always felt like I was still looking for more, they were never “just right” – until MFR! So, with much appreciated encouragement from the Balanced Physical Therapy staff, I went out and got trained and certified as a Massage Therapist and also went through multiple trainings in Myofascial Release with the “man” himself, John F. Barnes. The rest is history.
What do I love? I love that I am a mom and I have a great son – a labor of love, (No pun intended.). I love to run and I am empowered by the physical strength, personal freedom and stubborn determination that thirty-five years as a runner have required of me. I am an animal-lover and a certified Veterinary technician. So, while living in Alaska my favorite running partner on mountain trails was our Alaskan huskie,“Kelsey”. I love that a true community thrives here in the Arcata/Eureka area. I am passionate about Mother Earth and desperate to save her. I love that, through MFR, I have become part of the holistic approach to health and healing.
Above all, practicing MFR is not just something that I do… this is what I live. More than just giving treatments, this is about learning to live fully and healthfully in my body. My goal is not just to help people feel better temporarily… the goal is genuine healing from within. It is my opinion, based on personal experience, that no one comes to Balanced Physical Therapy by coincidence, but rather through universal design, and I am honored to be a part of that process.
